Marriage yajna done by brahmacari?Hanuman das
Email question from today:
Hare Krsna Prabhu,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
I have a question and would like to know whether this is bona fide:
I have a friend who got married recently and the devotee who was his wedding priest is a brahmacari. This brahmacari is young and has performed marriage sacrifice for many couples in the past.
I heard someone say that a brahmacari shouldn’t be performing marriage sacrifices.
What do you think about this?
Hare Krishna Bhakta X,
please accept my humble obeisances.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
brahmacari performing marriage ceremony is not an ideal situation.
I don’t know where you live, but maybe there is nobody else who is brahminical initiated and knows how to perform yajnas.
If there is a grhasta nearby who could perform such a ceremony, that would be better.
But being properly married is important for people so that they are able to raise themselves above the cat and dog level. Proper marriage must be done, even if brahmacari is the only one who can perform this ceremony.
