Dear members of GBC executive committee,
please accept my humble obeisances.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
I would like to request clarification on the joint statement you gave regarding Krishna West project, especially points 7 and 8.
We recognize that faithful ISKCON members may disagree on how to best understand and apply Srila Prabhupada’s teachings according to time, place and circumstance. The GBC established a committee on hermeneutics to specifically look at these questions, and we await that committee’s conclusions.
If questions arise regarding Hridayananda das Goswami’s preaching or Krishna West, concerned parties should first contact Hridayananda dasa Goswami directly, or Bir Krishna Goswami, and then, if necessary, the GBC Executive Committee, rather than air issues or grievances in unproductive ways, such as on the internet.
Tone of these two points gives me idea that I am not able to freely think and express my views publicly on the internet. Even if my thoughts are based on Srila Prabhupada’s books, conversations and letters.
In other words, I am not allowed to think and express my views on the internet, rather, I have to leave the thinking and conclusions to hermeneutics committee.
And even if I want to express my thoughts on any Krishna West issue, every time I have to go through Hridayananda Goswami, Bir Krishna Goswami, or GBC Executive committee, or else, all attempts to spread my grievances through internet will be considered “unproductive”. All this reminds my of North Korea where people on the top decide what is truth, what is productive and how everybody else must think.
I am natural born free thinker and I am planning to start worldwide alliance against Krishna West movement, so I would like to ask these direct questions regard points 7. and 8. of your statement.
Am I allowed to lobby with decision makers namely temple presidents and GBC members worldwide not to invite Krishna West preachers in their area since they are free to choose according to point 6 of your statement.
Am I allowed to preach against Krishna West practices and philosophy publicly on the internet? All based on Srila Prabhupada’s teachings.
We live in free and open word, so I hope I am free to use this letter and your reply publicly.
Thank you in advance.
your servant, Hanuman das
